This is a sample project that uses interactive maps to show aspects of the country surrounding a segment of the Superior Hiking Trail from US Highway 1 to County 6 on the Minnesota North Shore of Lake Superior.

Most of these map elements were derived from geographic information system (GIS) layers made available by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The applet used to display the main map is Jshape View (0.7).

The main interactive map which allows you to choose which features to display, to zoom in and out., and to pan. The photo map page contains photographs taken at various points along this segment of the trail on August 8th, 2005.
